其势不佳，盖未明其理。乔之八三，詹之六一，其间之距，远逾所料。必寻一径，不属乔，亦不属詹。然径在何方？且未审己尚能及否。夜深卧于费城寓中，天花裂缝在月下如涸河。仰望其隙，忽忆白日布朗之目——同一目，同一默问：尔竟何为？
俄而大力骤至。
非击也，若自足底灌入，其力宏大非常，意识不堪载。非热非冷，非电流，唯“大”而已——如海凝为针，刺入脑中。体若融冰，投日即化。欲呼不得声，欲动不得行。意识裂一隙，遂坠其中。其感之烈，远甚初穿时空。昔夜之暗未若此之深，此暗乃活，自四方向之聚拢，若触之，若辨之。
及醒，已不在地球矣。
身犹有迹——膝有旧伤，薄如蝉翼；右手无名指因常年投篮，微曲不正；肩被久抗，略发紧——然在此处，诸迹轻若烟，不着重。
四望虚空茫茫，暗中有光点无数，或近或远，或若恒星缓旋，或若萤火明灭。昇基浮游其间，无上下，无左右，无方向，无重量。光点于其周缓缓流，若无声之河。欲动，身不受控——或曰无身，唯意识一团，悬于混沌之中。
俄而觉有引力，若手轻牵其意，遂随之。
穿光点，穿暗虚，穿不可名之境。光点渐密渐疾，若星河坍缩。见有物焉，不可名状——若星系方成，若巨物沉睡。其力愈疾，疾至觉己正穿不可穿之界。其速其深，若宇宙之息，汲之入最深。
忽空间收束，若折纸忽展，遂落一地。
昇基不知此地何名，但觉其圣。
立于虚空，下无地，上无天，四无涯，而觉“立”存。光点非复随意，排列有序，若星辰为意所布。远有巨云缓旋，色金紫银，若画之活者。更远有光瀑自天际倾下，无声无温，静流若时之沉淀。不知所见为何，然知此非宇宙中任何一角可见之景。
此乃宇宙之“中”。
行于此地，似久似暂。其地无时，步若踏虚空之脉，每步觉意渐明。昔之模糊，今若水晶。
忽见巨轮悬虚，环成四字——《神女难传》。四字若隐若现，其大不可意识辨，而其存即为宣告。昇基能读之，因其字直入其脑。凝视久之，觉有力引之，若无形手推其背，遂前行。
穿一不可名之界。其界薄若水膜，穿之觉若过一纪元。落于新境，其纯愈甚。无光点，无星云，无瀑布。唯有极阔之寂，如山如海，无际无边。其寂非空，乃满，满至万声不需存。觉己若立于无限之镜前，然镜中所映，非己，乃宇宙最底之构。
遂见一人。
其人坐寂之中。非坐椅，非跏趺，乃若“存”自坐焉。貌甚少，容清隽，眉宇间含万古之邃。衣极简，无纹无饰，然其质若虚空所织。微俯其首，似有所思，又似无所思。
颌下有长须，黑白相间，顺若星河之流。其须使之既少且古，若同时生于时内时外。周身无光无场，然昇基视之，觉一种从未有之“全”。其人非立于某处，乃使某处成其为“所”。
其未仰首。
昇基止焉，立而不敢近，亦不敢出声。若立山前，其山非可攀，乃可仰。
良久——或亦一瞬——其人徐仰其首。其目平淡宁静，若阅尽万化之生灭，又若初见新物。其目落昇基身，其意被轻轻穿透，毫无所伤，若被月光照。
其人无惊无奇，唯以一种若已知其来、又若待其来之声，徐启其口：
“久矣，无人能至此。”
其声不大，然于寂中，每字若刻入宇宙底层之逻。
复微侧其首，若视昇基，又若审其为何。其目中无迫无审，唯有平淡之、近乎慈之观。
